Designed by Konstantinos Miaris the creative director behind award winning Greek design studio Konsept83, the artwork for ”Global” was based on a plastic jewel case with a half-cut booklet. Here’s what he had to say about it.

“I was under a strict deadline with a dwindling budget so I had to avoid difficult printing techniques. I decided to use a clear jewel box. During my survey on album covers I found the example of Kanye West’s album Yeezus, ”Less is More” is a concept I am usually associated with but for this occasion the final result had to be more trippy and allegoric, like Leon’s lyrics and sounds. Space related words like Baby Asteroid, Pilot etc worked a treat for me. A globe commonly refers to a spherical or roughly spherical object so I suddenly thought of an ice cream with planet balls. I put the cone on the left side of a half-cut booklet. Planet-balls were printed on the surface of the disc.”Spacecream” is the image you can see when the case is closed. When the disc is out of the box you can see a different image. A white bird. The ice cream cone at the left is the bird’s nose. I tried to make an interactive album cover that was walking the line between surrealism and science fiction.”

For the occasion of the release Yorgos Lanthimos (director of the oscar-nominated Dogtooth) directed an allegorical short film based on Baby Asteroid song which is included in the album.
